How long have you been working for Cleverbit?

I’ve been working at Cleverbit for around three years.

What is your role at Cleverbit?

I’m a Senior Software Developer.

How would you describe your job to someone without a technical background?

I develop software systems to help people be more efficient and have a better user experience.

What’s your earliest tech-related memory?

I used to play PC games often, and once I wondered how they were made. I started to go over game files, found some game resources, and tried to change them, but without any luck, obviously. Later I started to learn C++ (I was 14-15 years old) and wrote some very simple programs.

Did you always know you wanted to work in tech?

Yes, I always wanted to work with computers, new technologies, etc.

Describe your day-to-day routine, if you have one.

I usually wake up around 8:30 am and walk to the office through the countryside while listening to music. Once I arrive at the office, I start my work. Nothing too fancy.

People who work with tech can be superstitious. Do you have a favourite computer superstition or ritual?

No, I’m not superstitious and don’t have any rituals.

Who is your professional hero?

I admire people who change the world in a positive way, who suggest and implement things that might seem crazy to the vast majority of people at first glance, but they work on what they believe despite all of that and finally achieve success. Thus, I think people like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk are people I look up to.

How did you end up working at Cleverbit?

I wanted to live in Europe since the first time I visited it. I feel much more comfortable here than in my home country. So, when I felt that I had enough skills and experience to be competitive in the EU IT labor market, I started my job search. After some time, I had three offers and chose Cleverbit because it looked like the most attractive opportunity from those I had.

Is there a project that you’ve worked on at Cleverbit that really stood out to you for whatever reason?

I’ve worked on two projects since I joined Cleverbit, and I found them very interesting from both technical and business points of view.

What’s the office culture like at Cleverbit?

Everyone is very friendly. We are also multicultural, which gives you a great opportunity to learn something new about how other people and other countries.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Well, I’m not sure. I’ve always wanted to work in IT. But if not IT, I assume I would like to be a civil aviation pilot because I really like to travel.
