Cleverbit Software welcomes His Royal Highness to Malta for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Ceremony

It is with the greatest sense of pride and excitement that we announce that our team had the unique honour being part of the visit of His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, to Malta, due to our support of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programme.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognized initiative that encourages young individuals to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and contribute to their communities. As a company, we are committed to supporting such initiatives, which align with our values of innovation, resilience, and giving back to society.

Cleverbit has been a platinum sponsor of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award for a couple of years, given the alignment of our core values and the initiatives promoted by the program, with our COO Adrian Farrugia serving as the volunteer National Director, a responsibility which he is able to manage thanks to our flexible work practices and possibility for remote work.

The Duke of Edinburgh International Award: A Legacy of Empowering Youth

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), founded by His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1956, has grown into one of the most respected youth programs worldwide. The award’s mission is to create global citizens through inspiring young people to challenge themselves, embrace responsibility, and develop valuable life skills. Through this program, participants engage in activities that build confidence, resilience, and leadership abilities while giving back to their communities through service.

The program is structured around three progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—where young people between the ages of 14 and 24 take part in various activities across four core sections: Expedition, Physical, Skills, and Volunteering. At the Gold level, participants also complete a residential project. By the end of the award, young people are equipped with key skills for personal and professional success, qualities that are crucial in today’s ever-changing world.

Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility

Social responsibility is part of our identity at Cleverbit, and throughout the years we have been a part of many initiatives across different causes and forms of participation.

Our partnership with the DofE is built on shared values. We recognize the importance of nurturing leadership, teamwork, and autonomy, which are also essential qualities in the business world. Through our involvement, we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of participants, contributing to better tomorrow for all.

A Momentous Occasion

The visit of His Royal Highness to Malta is particularly special, as 2024 marks two significant milestones: Malta’s 60th anniversary of independence and His Royal Highness himself celebrating his 60th birthday. This symbolic convergence of events makes this visit not only a celebration of the DofE but also a recognition of the deep and enduring ties between Malta and the United Kingdom.

Malta’s independence anniversary provides a meaningful backdrop for His Royal Highness’ visit, as the island reflects on six decades of growth, progress, and its evolving role on the global stage.

A shared vision for the future

At Cleverbit, we are driven by innovation, adaptability, and a commitment to shaping the future through technology. This mission aligns perfectly with the DofE as both organizations strive to prepare young people to thrive in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.

We believe that the DofE has the power to transform lives, and we are honoured to play a part in that transformation. By working together, we can help ensure that young people in Malta—and around the world—have the opportunity to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to succeed in life.

His Royal Highness’ visit underscores the importance of the DofE and reaffirms our commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders. We feel immense pride in having taken part in this momentous occasion and look forward to continuing our journey alongside the organisation for many years to come.
